Brendan Rodgers Named SPFL Premiership Manager of the Year
Rodgers has now won the award more times than any other manager, surpassing Walter Smith, Gordon Strachan and Ange Postecoglou.
Brendan Rodgers has been named the Premiership manager of the year. The award comes just weeks after he missed out on the PFA Manager of the year awards, which went to Falkirk’s John McGlynn. The bairns gaffer became the first manager to win the PFA managers award three times, after he achieved promotion back to the top flight at the first time of asking.
While there is only one PFA Manager of the Year award which covers all four divisions, each division has its own individual SPFL award. The SPFL awards have only been awarded since the 2015/16 season, with a two year gap after the SPL/SFL merger in 2013. However looking at the awards given out - including SPL awards since 2003 - today’s announcement means Brendan Rodgers has now won this award more than any other manager.
Below is the list of previous winners, broken down by club for the seven Premiership clubs that have had provided winner. The breakdown for the PFA award - voted for by the fellow managers - then follows, as a comparison.
