Hibs on the Fourth-Longest League Unbeaten Run in the UK
Only Liverpool Among Top-Tier Clubs Have a Longer Streak Than the Hibees
WHERE HIBS’ UNBEATEN RUN RANKS IN THEIR HISTORY
Hibernian extended their remarkable unbeaten run to 13 league matches - 15 in all competitions - marking their longest top division streak without defeat since 1949. That year, a 13-match unbeaten run was halted in the New Year Derby at the start of 1950, when Hearts claimed a 2-1 victory in front of 65,000 fans at Easter Road. To this day, that match remains both Hibs’ highest-ever home attendance and the record crowd for an Edinburgh derby.

Hibs had managed a 1-0 win over Rangers at Easter Road (programme pictured below) and later held them to a 0-0 draw at Ibrox in Hibs’ final league match, played in front of 101,000 spectators. That remains the largest post-war crowd for a league match in the UK, in what was essentially a title decider. However, the draw didn’t directly decide the title in Rangers' favour, as the Gers still had one match left - away to Third Lanark.
