As expected after such a poor first leg performance, Rangers will play in the Europa League phase for the seventh time in the past eight years. Rangers fans must have thought it couldn’t get any worse after they were 2-0 down after 7 minutes in the first leg. Well, they were both a goal and a man down after 8 minutes tonight.

A truly terrible attempt to reach the Champions League from Russel Martin’s Rangers, across both legs, which will no doubt have fans seriously concerned about the trajectory of the team under Russell Martin.

On the positive side, Rangers have progressed to the Europa League knockout rounds in six of those 7 previous campaigns, and so the fans will - through hope rather than expectation - want to see another successful European journey this season.
