Eight Teams Remain in the Hunt for Guaranteed Conference League Football
We’re down to the last eight in the Scottish Cup, and the Semi Final matchups will be known by Monday night - with the draw taking place after full time in Monday’s Livingston v St Johnstone match.
Any of the teams in the hunt for third place in the league (Aberdeen, Hibs, Hearts) that are eliminated this weekend would then hope that Celtic go on to retain the trophy. That is because a Celtic Scottish Cup win is the only way that the guaranteed Conference League Entry point goes to the team that finishes third. It’s even more important this season, as this will be the last time this lucrative £5m+ guaranteed UEFA income is on offer for several years, as reported on ScottishFootball.info last night:
