Scottish Cup Semi Final Stats Pack
Dunfermline face Falkirk at 12:30 on Saturday before Celtic meet St. Mirren at 14:00 on Sunday
As is the norm, Hampden Park stages both 2025-26 Scottish Cup Semi-Finals this weekend, with Dunfermline Athletic facing Falkirk on Saturday followed by Celtic meeting St Mirren on Sunday. One tie is a local rivalry that’s enjoyed frequent league encounters over recent years but relatively little recent cup history. The other is a meeting of clubs from the same division who have already met at Hampden this season. Not that Celtic fans will want reminded of what happened that day in December….
DUNFERMLINE Vs FALKIRK
Saturday 12:30 - BBC Scotland & Premier Sports
The ‘Kincardine Derby’ has a head-to-head record topped by Falkirk with 52 wins to Dunfermline’s 41, with 27 draws from 120 meetings across the three major Scottish competitions.
In Scottish Cup encounters only, Falkirk also lead with 3 wins to 1, with the other match drawn. Their one previous meeting at Hampden came in the 2009 Scottish Cup Semi-Final, when Falkirk won 2-0 in front of 17,000 before losing 1-0 to Rangers in the Final. Both clubs have identical records in Finals and so are each chasing a sixth Scottish Cup final appearance: having previously each reached 5 and won 2. Neither have won the Scottish Cup in the last 50 years and so are both looking to end long droughts.
Dunfermline: Finals Reached: 5 (last in 2007); Finals Won: 2 (last in 1968)
Falkirk: Finals Reached: 5 (last in 2015); Finals Won: 2 (last in 1957)

ROUTE TO THE FINAL
Dunfermline have been drawn as the home side in every round so far, including the Semi-Final. There have only been 12 clubs in history to reach the Scottish Cup Final after being the ‘home’ side in every tie.
Four of those teams then lost the final (Queen’s Park 1899/00, Hibs 1922/23, Rangers 1976/77, Rangers 1981/82) while 12 won the Cup (Celtic 2017-18, Celtic 1988-89, Celtic 1966-67, St Mirren 1958-59, Hearts 1955-56, Clyde 1954-55, Celtic 1910-11, Queen’s Park 1881-82)
Dunfermline’s route to Hampden has been impressive as they had to negotiate their way past two of the top five Premiership sides in terms of budgets. They started by edging Queen of the South 2-1 with Kane scoring twice, before a narrow narrow victory as they beat Hibernian 1-0 through a Chaiwa own goal. In the Fifth Round the Pars beat Kelty Hearts 2-0 with Kane scoring both, and then the Fifers produced the Quarter-Final shock by battering holders Aberdeen 3-0 through Todd and a Thomas double.
Dunfermline’s victory over Aberdeen at East End Park was the third time they have eliminated the reigning holders, after also knocking out Celtic in 1967-68 and Hearts in 2006-07.
The Pars have now faced the current Scottish Cup holders 11 times in total: Celtic six times, Rangers twice, and Aberdeen, Clyde and Hearts once each. By comparison, Falkirk have faced the holders 6 times but never eliminated them, coming up against Queen’s Park once, Celtic three times and Rangers twice.
Falkirk have an impressive run to the final of their own, also disposing of two fellow Premiership sides - starting at Tynecastle. They beat the league leaders Hearts on penalties after a 1-1 draw, with Parkinson scoring in normal time, then beat Stenhousemuir 2-0 after extra time through Spencer and Stewart. In the Quarter-Final the Bairns saw off Dundee United 2-1 thanks to Stewart and Yeats.
