Now that the men’s 2025/26 league season has concluded, we only have the Premiership Playoff Final and Scottish Cup Final to look forward to before the World Cup preparation begins.

There will be lots of articles on the website for the World Cup, before the UEFA qualifiers and League Cup both start in July - then league action returns on 1st August 2026.

Before that though, in the first of the summary articles for last season 2025/26, I attach a “scorecard” for each team of the 42 teams in the SPFL, as well as an overall “scorecard” for each division. This includes top scorer, most common result this season, and history of finishing in that position in the division for each club.

17 of the 42 SPFL clubs finished in a league position they had not previously finished in this century, in that tier.

Premiership

“Place history” only includes how many times the team has finished in this position since the 2000/01 season.

Three teams were finishing in a position in this tier for the first time this century:

  • Motherwell 4th for first time since 1999/00

  • Falkirk 6th for first time since 1926/27

  • Dundee United 7th for first time since 1997/98
