Earlier in the week I told how as part of my commitment to increasing and improving the content available to you on the website, I will start offering “Stats Packs” before each game week in Scottish Football. That’s in addition to pointing out notable records after the fact.

This is the first SPFL Stats Packs on ScottishFootball.info, and it covers all four divisions. The aim is that this will constantly evolve and improve from here through member feedback. I already have ideas on how to improve it for next week.

Please leave any comments regarding what you like or dislike, as well as what you would want to see more or less of in this type of preview. Of course please also point out any errors, even if just a small typo - I can correct these easily on the website.

The first STATS pack was free for all subscribers, covering the Scotland Vs Ivory Coast match in Liverpool. By the way, I had my most “they’re in the wrong seats” experience ever at that match. My seat was waaaay up the top tier above the corner flag. However, most of the seats with the best view, in the upper tier at the half way line were empty. Me and my mate went round to sit there for a better view instead. Five minutes before kick off, a guy came and hit us with the “that’s my seat”. Originally thought he was joking, as the rest of the row was empty. He wasn’t kidding.

My new seat at the Hill Dickinson, having been moved down 2 seats just before kick off.

Anyway, those that read the Ivory Coast V Scotland Stats Pack would have been able to tell their friends in the pub at the full-time whistle that Scotland now have only won 2 of last 11 matches in England - and none this century, have conceded exactly 100 goals under Steve Clarke and have now failed to score in two consecutive games for the first time since the Euro 2024 warm-up games exactly two years ago….

If you are not a paying subscriber yet, please consider taking out a 7-day free trial to continue reading, before deciding for yourself if you think £25 per year (or £3.50 per month) is value for money. If it’s not for you, then cancel at any point before the trial ends and don’t pay anything.

PREMIERSHIP

Hibernian Vs Kilmarnock (Easter Road, Saturday 15:00)

All-time league record: Hibernian 100 wins, 57 draws, Kilmarnock 72 wins
At Easter Road: Hibernian 65 wins, 29 draws, Kilmarnock 21 wins
Top scorer in this fixture this century: Derek Riordan - 10 goals

This fixture specifically:

  • Hibs are unbeaten in the 2 league meetings so far this season, drawing 2-2 at Easter Road and winning 3-1 at Rugby Park.

  • Hibs are unbeaten in their last 13 home meetings with Kilmarnock in all competitions, since May 2014.

  • Hibs have only lost 1 of their past 16 league matches against Kilmarnock (9 wins + 6 draws) and are unbeaten in nine since a 1-0 defeat at Rugby Park in November 2022.

League wide form:

  • Hibs have only 1 defeat in their last 6 league matches, which is bettered only by Rangers (0 defeats).

  • Hibs have drawn their last 2 league matches 0-0; the last top-flight side to record 3 consecutive goalless draws was also Hibs, in March 2022 against Celtic, Dundee and St Johnstone. Prior to that it was Hearts in 2017, who followed up a 4-0 win at home to Celtic with three bore draws Vs St Johnstone, Hibs and Aberdeen.

  • If Kilmarnock win to nil, they will record 3 consecutive victories without conceding for the first time in 8 years, since April 2018 (Rangers 0-1 Kilmarnock, Kilmarnock 2-0 Hamilton, Partick Thistle 0-1 Kilmarnock)

  • Kilmarnock though, haven’t won away from home for 12 matches (8 losses + 4 draws), since beating Dundee United 2-0 at Tannadice in September.

Motherwell Vs Falkirk (Fir Park, Saturday 15:00)
