THE OLD FIRM SLIP UP, AGAIN

Only Ross County and St. Mirren (both 4) have lost more league matches in the last 6 than Rangers and Celtic (both 3). Bottom of the table St. Johnstone have only lost 2 of the last 6.

It continues the trend of when this happens (rarely)

  • Rangers are at home

  • Celtic are away

  • One of the Edinburgh clubs are involved

Full details of when it happened are below under the Celtic result.

DUNDEE 2-0 ST.MIRREN - Dens Park: Saturday 15:00

Dundee win at home for the first time in nine league matches (five losses), they travel to Hibs in the last match pre-split, and have moved 8 points clear of St. Johnstone while they now trail Ross County by just one point.
It’s the first time the Dee have beaten St. Mirren in back-to-back top flight games in over 10 years (August 2014).

St. Mirren end at home to Ross County next weekend - they’ll already be consigned to the bottom 6 unless Hearts fail to beat Dundee United tomorrow.

Simon Murray moves to joint top goalscorer in the Premiership - level with Simon Murray on 15 league goals.

KILMARNOCK 2-0 MOTHERWELL - Rugby Park: Saturday 15:00

Motherwell now haven’t won in the league at Rugby Park in over four years, since they won 1-0 there in February 2021 under Graham Alexander. They’ve now lost the joint highest number of away games in the league this season (11), and it’s seven losses in nine away matches. The Well host Hearts next weekend - but they’ll already be consigned to the bottom 6 unless Hearts fail to beat Dundee United tomorrow.

Kilmarnock end a five match winless streak, and sit 9th - but only 1 point clear of the relegation playoff spot. Their last match before the league splits is at Celtic Park next week as the Celts look to seal the title.
