The QR3 ties for all three UEFA competitions were completed today at the House of European Football in Nyon, Switzerland. Obviously for each Scottish team we always hope for the ‘easiest’ tie on paper as first priority, then the second leg at home is always regarded as a nice bonus. There is historically a slightly higher chance of progression if playing the second leg at home in front of your own fans, but it’s of course not definitive.

After today’s draws, all three Scottish sides now have a much clearer view of their road to the respective league phases - and the draw has provided some huge opportunities.


RANGERS

Rangers were unfortunate in the QR2 draw a couple of weeks ago, as they were tied with the strongest of the unseeded opponents AND given the second leg away. However if they can overcome Panathinaikos over the next 10 days, then they will be rewarded with a Champions League QR3 tie against the winners of Viktoria Plzen of Czechia Vs Servette of Switzerland. The first leg will again be at Ibrox, however the orientation of the ties was not as important as avoiding Fenerbahçe.
