While my main focus will always be Scottish football, I have all the data saved on English football that would enable me to do the same type of ‘Stats Pack’ graphics that I do for the SPFL and SWPL.
Hopefully this website can reach some English football fans that would like to subscribe to receive the weekly stats card for their team.
These will include the all-time records between the teams, the top scorer in each fixture, and some stats around current form. Ahead of the first weekend in the EPL this will be focused on each club’s opening-day record this century.
Each fixture will also have a “Scottish connection” section about the most recent Scottish player to play for each side, if there are none in the current squad.
English Premier League
Arsenal begin their title defence at home to Championship winners Coventry City as the 2026/27 Premier League opens on Friday night, with the ten matches spread across four days. Ipswich Town and Hull City are the other promoted sides, while seven of the ten fixtures are legally live on UK TV.
Arsenal Vs Coventry City
(Emirates Stadium, Friday 20:00)
The champions open against a Coventry side returning to the top flight after a 25 year absence. Arsenal collected 85 points last season and Coventry won the Championship with 95.
Arsenal have won four consecutive league openers, while Coventry’s current four-match winless run on opening day is level with their longest since 2000/01. Arsenal have won the last three top-flight meetings and are unbeaten in seven at home in this fixture, winning five and drawing two.
Coventry’s previous away top-flight win over Arsenal was a 3-0 opening-day result at Highbury in August 1993, when Micky Quinn scored a hat-trick.
Hull City Vs Manchester United
(The MKM Stadium, Saturday 12:30)
Hull return through the play-offs after getting through all three matches without conceding. Oli McBurnie’s 95th-minute goal settled the Wembley final against Middlesbrough, while Manchester United replaced Ruben Amorim with Michael Carrick in January. Carrick then guided United to third place and a return to the Champions League.
Man United are unbeaten in all ten Premier League meetings with Hull, winning eight and drawing two. The final three meetings in that sequence produced just one goal, with two 0-0 draws sandwiching United’s 1-0 win at Hull in August 2016.
United’s 18 opening-day wins since 2000/01 are joint-most among the 20 current clubs.
Everton Vs Crystal Palace
(Hill Dickinson Stadium, Saturday 15:00)
Everton finished four points and two places above Palace last season, but their modern opening-day record has been poor. Everton have lost four straight league openers, the longest current losing run among the 20 clubs, and their 12 defeats since 2000/01 are also the highest total in the EPL.
However, Everton are unbeaten in nine Premier League meetings with Palace, winning six and drawing three, and have gone 11 home top-flight meetings without defeat.
Palace’s previous away league win was 3-2 at Goodison Park in September 2014.
Ipswich Town Vs Sunderland
(Portman Road, Saturday 15:00)
Ipswich begin life back in the Premier League after finishing second in the Championship with 84 points. Sunderland’s first season after promotion was an unexpectedly high seventh place and Europa League qualification, and they have won their last two league openers by a combined 5-0.
Meetings this century between these two have been played across three divisions! Ipswich won both Championship games 2-1 in 2023/24, while Sunderland took four points from the 2021/22 League One pair.
Their four Premier League meetings produced two wins apiece, with Ipswich winning the latest 5-0 at Portman Road, albeit back in December 2001.
Nottingham Forest Vs Leeds United
(The City Ground, Saturday 15:00)
Only three points separated the clubs last season as Leeds finished 14th with 47 and Forest 16th with 44, although Forest conceded five fewer goals. Their two 2025/26 league meetings were 3-1 wins for the home side in each match.
Forest are unbeaten in 14 home top-flight meetings with Leeds, winning seven and drawing seven, since a 2-0 Leeds victory in November 1971.
Leeds have won 16 of their 26 opening league matches this century, joint-fourth among the 20 current EPL clubs, and are unbeaten in their last four.
Brentford Vs Tottenham Hotspur
(Gtech Community Stadium, Saturday 17:30)
Brentford’s ninth-place finish brought 53 points, while Tottenham ended 17th on 41 after Roberto De Zerbi led them to survival on the final day. Spurs have a five-match unbeaten opening-day run, winning three and drawing two, which is their longest run this century.
Tottenham are also unbeaten in six Premier League meetings with Brentford since the Bees won 3-1 in north London in May 2023.
Four of the five Premier League games at Brentford have been draws, with Spurs’ 2-0 victory in February 2025 the only exception.
Brighton & Hove Albion Vs Aston Villa
(American Express Stadium, Sunday 14:00)
Both clubs qualified for Europe this season; Villa finished fourth with 65 points and reached the Champions League, while eighth-placed Brighton qualified for the Conference League with 53 points.
Brighton are unbeaten in five successive league openers, winning four and drawing one, a run matched only by Tottenham and bettered only by Liverpool among the 20 current EPL clubs.
Villa have won the last three Premier League meetings by an 8-3 aggregate, including December’s 4-3 success at Brighton.
Manchester City Vs AFC Bournemouth
(Etihad Stadium, Sunday 14:00)
Second-placed City and sixth-placed Bournemouth both secured European football last season, which will be the first European qualification in Bournemouth’s history.
Enzo Maresca takes charge of City for the first time, with Marco Rose overseeing his first match as Bournemouth head coach.
City have won all nine Premier League home meetings with Bournemouth, scoring at least twice in each and, resulting in a 34-6 aggregate score in this fixture. Their overall Premier League record is 16 wins, one draw and one defeat, with Bournemouth’s 2-1 home victory in November 2024 the only break in City’s dominance of this fixture.
Newcastle United Vs Liverpool
(St. James’ Park, Sunday 16:30)
Liverpool finished fifth on 60 points and Newcastle 12th on 49. Andoni Iraola’s first league match as Liverpool head coach comes at a ground where his new club are unbeaten in nine league visits, winning six and drawing three.
At either venue, Liverpool are unbeaten against Newcastle in the last 19 top-flight meetings, with 14 wins and five draws since Newcastle’s 2-0 victory in December 2015. Liverpool won last season’s games 3-2 and 4-1.
Liverpool’s 13-match unbeaten run in league openers is the longest among the 20 clubs, with only three opening defeats this century.
Fulham Vs Chelsea
(Craven Cottage, Monday 20:00)
The opening EPL weekend ends on Sky Sports Monday night football with a west London derby between clubs who both finished on 52 points. Chelsea took tenth place with a +6 goal difference, while Fulham were 11th on -4 after scoring 11 fewer goals.
Home advantage decided both league meetings last season, Chelsea winning 2-0 in August before Fulham’s 2-1 victory at Craven Cottage in January. Chelsea’s Premier League record in the fixture is 23 wins, 11 draws and four defeats, although three of Fulham’s four wins have come in the last eight encounters.
Former Liverpool team-mates Xabi Alonso and Alvaro Arbeloa make their Premier League managerial debuts on opposite sides of the dugouts.
