Scottish European Matches counter 2025/26 =
5 wins + 6 draws + 5 losses

Last week was an incredibly poor showing for the coefficient, given all four teams were at home and we recorded no victories. We go in to the second leg of the playoff round ties with all four teams having substantial work to do, although some more than others. We are aiming for double digit coefficient points by the end of this season, and with all four teams are away from home, it seems a tough ask to better last week’s match results. However, we still have to be aiming to come out of qualifiers with at least 2 points on the board.

If Celtic win in Kazakhstan, Scotland’s total will sit at 3 points plus whatever points the other 3 clubs can muster from their away leg results.

Scotland’s Coefficient 2025/26, broken down by individual club contribution as at 25th August.

I gave a quick interview to BBC Scotland earlier today and they should have a piece up on their website tonight regarding the importance of the coefficient. I will update this article with a link to it, once published. In the meantime, this brief preview will recap:

  • The European entry points

    • Next summer 2026 (locked in) and

    • Summer 2027 (if Scotland finishes outside the top 15)

  • UEFA rankings as they currently stand

  • Important non-Scottish matches to look out for this week.

    • Austria - could have two teams eliminated

    • Switzerland - could have two teams eliminated
